The 2022 BRICS Business Forum was held in Beijing on 22 June in a combination of online and offline formats. Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech in virtual format at the opening ceremony with the title of "Grasping the Tide of the Times for a Bright Future", while Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua delivered the speech on site. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro attended and addressed the opening ceremony via video.
Focusing on the theme of "Deepening BRICS Business Partnership for a Better Future of Global Development", representatives from the business communities of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa had an extensive and in-depth exchange on promoting cooperation among BRICS countries. The participating enterprises are world-renowned pillar enterprises of BRICS countries, involving such fields as energy, finance and aviation, as well as Internet, big data, e-commerce and new energy, among which there were 40 Global 500 companies. China Tianying was invited to participate in the forum offline.
As a complementary event to the BRICS Leaders' Meeting, the BRICS Business Forum is an important platform for the business community of the five countries to discuss cooperation and seek common development. This year's Forum focused on hot topics such as promoting world economic recovery, accelerating green transformation, embracing the digital economy, expanding health cooperation and enhancing supply chain resilience. The Forum also released the BRICS Business Community Beijing Initiative.
The Initiative includes: expanding health cooperation and bridging the global "immunization gap"; supporting a multilateral trading system, strengthening trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, deepening exchanges in e-commerce, intellectual property, trade in services, small and medium-sized enterprises and technology; promoting sustainable development, developing clean energy, low-carbon technologies, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, carbon markets and climate change adaptation; promoting the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership, vigorously improving digitalization and intelligent development, and developing cooperation on human resource development in BRICS countries; enhancing supply chain resilience, strengthening investment that is conducive to enhancing the stability, diversity and resilience of supply chains; upgrading industries to the higher end of the value chain; and strengthening cooperation between industrial and commercial sectors.
Currently, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to intensified global shocks, accelerated adjustments in the international landscape and governance system, shortages in labour supply and restrictions in logistics and transportation, causing serious impacts on regional and global supply chains. The international community expects the BRICS mechanism to play a greater role in strengthening cooperation in combating the pandemic, promoting economic recovery and maintaining peace and stability. In the face of the headwinds hitting the global economy, the Forum called on international community to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to achieve stronger, greener and healthier development.
China Tianying will give full play to the corporate value of “true success is not one-win but all-win” and the BRICS spirit of "mutual respect and understanding, equality, solidarity, openness and mutual benefits", actively participate in the cooperation of BRICS countries and continuously contribute to building a high-quality partnership and creating a new era of common development.
